About the Owner

Susan Moulton

Susan Moulton describes Safari North at Pauls Mill Farm as "a spin-off of my Texas Pin-hooking days at Retama Park." Moulton broke yearlings for several years for Texas, Maryland, and Florida 2-year-old sales, and she still holds her Texas trainer license. Safari North is managed by Debbie First-Ward and assisted by Moulton's husband, former jockey Shane Sellers. They are a small operation on 340 acres in Versailles, Kentucky. There are currently 20 mares in house, but Moulton aims to keep that number under 10 in the future. Moulton believes this farm has served to heal many hearts, and she is excited to open it to the world through Foal Patrol for a second season. "Shane and I were married here Oct. 12, 2020, and celebrated our future near the bust of my two boys, Charlie and Will, whose passing in 2016 and 2007 briefly interrupted my association with the horse business. But a true horseman always comes home, even after such tragedy. So welcome to our small nursery, where dreams are born, as well as foals." — Susan Moulton
